What is a Computer Virus?
A computer virus is an executable file designed to replicate itself while avoiding detection. A virus may disguise itself as a legitimate program. Viruses are often rewritten and adjusted so that they will not be detected. Anti-virus programs must be updated continuously to look for new and modified viruses. Viruses are the number one method of computer vandalism.
What is Spyware and Adware?
A technology that assists in gathering information about a person or organization without their knowledge. On the Internet, "spyware is programming that is put in someone's computer to secretly gather information about the user and relay it to advertisers or other interested parties." As such, spyware is cause for public concern about privacy on the Internet.
Can these be Removed or Repaired?
Yes, you can use products from Symantec or Mcafee to remove most virus activity, but they do not repair the infected files. My Computer Guy will go though your computer and remove virus infections, repair the damage done by the infection, and repair windows system files. We will also take out unneeded programs and services, defragment the hard drive, clean up temp files, install updates to system software, physically inspect the computer, clean out dust from the machine, and test the machine to make sure its running fast and reliable.
